Provet is conducting research on the effect of excess vitamin A during pregnancy and is requesting case histories from breeders who have seen cleft palates.

Most current research has to do with the genetic aspects of particular breeds, looking for the hereditary factors. There is also research on how to surgically close the defect – most of this is using dogs as models for human surgery techniques. There is no specific research in our breed.
