British Samoyed Club Collection/Cataracts

The British Samoyed Club hosted another DNA swab collection and eye check clinic, as a follow up to the cataract study previously sponsored by AKC Canine Health Foundation and SCARF at their Championship Show on December 3, 2011.

Hazel Fitzgibbon has spear headed this endeavor and coordinated the event. As before subsidized eye testing was available and with the new venue further North they were able to attract a different sampling of bloodlines.  The examining vet was from the BVA/KC panel.

With their help, Scarf was able to add 22 DNA samples to this very important study.

This was the second time that the British Club has helped Dr Catherine Mellersh of the Animal Health Trust provide eye tested  DNA for her studies into the causes of cataracts. Please follow this link , if you are interested in the original study.
